The Place That I Want to Visit

A place that I want to visit
is a place where there are no
broken shacks, but homes instead.

A place where everyone is free
to dance and sing.

A place where there are no dead bodies
lying in an alley.

A place that I want to visit
is a place where there is no racism.

A place where there are no gangsters and prostitutes.

A place where there are no police,
because people of that place obey the law.

That is the place that I want to visit ...

Heaven.

  1. Victor, I love this poem. I wish I knew of a place on earth like the one you describe here. In this writing, you demonstrate awareness of the social ills you wish to avoid.

I am impressed that, with just the ten minutes I gave you in class today, you wrote such a brilliant poem! Your presentation style in the reading aloud was also great.

Thank you for sharing this talent. I can't wait to read more from you.

  2. 10 minutes?! I couldn't write this if I had hours - I was moved and touched beyond all comprehension. I wanted to send a hug across the world to you! I agree with Katie - you have such an understanding of the way things should be - and with your writing I think you can be a GREAT advocate for change.

We were very lucky to have Katie help us finish my daughter Mandy's dreams to teach there through her - Reading the work that her students produce shows me that God worked his magic and the right person is there with the students. www.TheKindnessRevolution.ME
