When days are dark,
friends are few
But when I'm lonely
I feel so blue
In the grassy field
where creatures stay
I sit among the leaves
hearing the call of nature
Whispering
and saying slowly, but surely
the sun will rise to the beat
of nature's drum
As the wind bristles
through the singing "kinako,"
it is time
The time for us
to stand in the spotlight

Thank you, Chris, for standing in the spotlight with this writing! I appreciate this view into you, as you voice the pain of loneliness, and then call yourself and your community into the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteClaiming space in community is a certain antidote to loneliness. Thanks for the reminder.
One of the things I hate most in this world is being alone. As an extravert I love people and get my energy from being around them. But reading your poem makes me think that maybe I am missing something - some quiet meditation time to be alone and really be "in the moment" and take a good look at just me - so thank you
